Water Group Report: Cadiz Water Project

Hydrogeologist Tom Henderson illustrates how the Cadiz basin is recharged.

Thirteen TJT Water Group members recently made two trips to Cadiz to investigate the controversial Cadiz Valley Water Conservation, Recovery and Storage Project. The for-profit venture by Cadiz, Inc would extract 50,000 acre-feet per year of groundwater over a period of 50 years from the Mojave Desert for export to Orange County.

TJT WG is opposed to this project on an ethical basis and questions the data produced by Cadiz to justify removing water from an ancient desert aquifer. Join the discussion by attending TJT Water 101.
