Nearly 50 Morongo Basin residents turned out at Furstworld on June 8 to see the new documentary film ‘Pumped Dry: The Global Crisis of Vanishing Groundwater’. The Transition Joshua Tree Water Group hosted the free presentation by Desert Sun investigative reporter Ian James who discussed the growing conflicts over water that inspired him to create the film. The Water Group began the evening with a discussion of the Morongo Basin’s own declining water tables as seen through their review of the draft 2015 Urban Water Management Plans of three local water districts.
