CollecTED Wisdom 2 | June 12 |
JOSHUA TREE, CA, May 25, 2011. Transition Joshua Tree presents another event in its movie night series with CollecTED Wisdom 2, Sunday, June 12, 6:30 PM, at Fellowship Hall, Community United Methodist Church, 6213 East Parkway. The community is invited for a potluck dinner and viewings of some of the TranSition group’s favorite movies from the library of the non-profit group TED. These TED Talks are a collection of inspiring and informative videos from the world’s most ingenious thinkers on a range of topics.
“There’s something about viewing these videos with the community. We’re finding it helps encourage a respectful yet lively dialogue about our desert communities now and what they can be like in the future,” states Karen Tracy, Transition steering team member and event host.
Come with a yummy dish to share for the potluck, along with your own plate and utensils (in the name of sustainability.) Bring a TV tray, or dine in your movie seat (no tables will be available for dining).
Following the pot luck dinner and videos, attendees can acquire a free water-saving fixture, with the goal of helping eliminate wasted aquifer water. The fixtures have been provided by the Joshua Basin Water District (JBWD) and Alliance for Water Awareness and Conservation (AWAC).
Transition Joshua Tree is dedicated to working with the Joshua Tree community to build resilience in the face of peak oil, climate change and economic instability. We believe that we can work together to create an abundant and sustainable future.
